How to delete domain and item row from SDB Explorer?

Follow the steps below to delete an existing Amazon SimpleDB domain :

  1. Run SDB Explorer as usual.
  2. Select the domain form left panel that you want to delete.
  3. Click on Delete Domain icon located on the tool bar.
  4. A dialog box of Delete Domain will be opened with your selected domain in a drop down list box.
  5. Domain can also be changed here from the drop down list.
  6. After conformation of the name of domain that is to be deleted click on OK button.
  7. After a short while you will be seen a message "Domain has been deleted successfully".
  8. Click on OK button.
  9. Now you've deleted your domain.
  10. Check the List of Domains, you should no more be seen your domain there.

Follow the steps below to delete the row item from your domain:

  1. Run SDB Explorer as usual.
  2. Select domain from which you want to delete item.
  3. Explore the domain by right click option Explore Domain .
  4. After a short while you will be seen the list of item-rows in GRID.
  5. [1] Use pagination to fetch/reach on desired item row.
  6. Select item-row that is to be deleted.
  7. Right click on selected item to choose Delete Item Row option.
  8. A window for Delete Item Row will be opened.
  9. [2] Define the desired attribute-value pair that is to be deleted and click on Delete button.
  10. After a short while row will be deleted.
  11. Now you've deleted the item.

Follow the steps below to delete all items at once:

  1. Start SDB Explorer .
  2. Select domain and right click.
  3. Click “ Delete all items ” option from pop up list.
  4. It prompts twice to make you sure if you really want to delete all the items of domain .
  5. Click OK to proceed.
  6. You’ve deleted all the items.


  • ^ Pagination : See Next records by clicking Next button or previous records by clicking Previous button, if it is required.
  • ^ Delete Attribute Value : By default entire item-value pairs of the selected row will be checked in Delete item row window, but you can uncheck the pair that you don't want to delete. By this act you can delete/ clear the desired attribute-value pair instead of deleting entire row.
